The Asus 10 inch Eee PC Laptop in the lime light: Is this a rumour?

Asus 10 inch Eee PC Laptop

There seems to be rumours flying around about the new Asus 10 inch Eee PC Laptop and this is why we are putting it in the lime light. We got this news from akihabara news and they are trying to piece together various contradictory statements from Asus and other sources which we hope they will find.

The picture above was found from akihabara news from Computex and it clearly shows that it is an Eee PC model “1001,” which seems to be encased with a 10 inch display, so does this mean that the rumours are true because it looks like they are putting a bigger screen into the existing 7-inch 701 form factor (well these are the other rumours anyhow).

Asus have not been talking much about the much talked about 1001, so Asus if you are reading this review please do contact us with more information as we are really intrigued.

Omg i thought this Eee pc was going to be around £100 quid for the unit and now it seems that it £219 pounds a £120 pound price hike ,Its far cheaper to by a normal laptop for the same money and higher specs,and if im not mistaken over the next few months there will be hundreds of Eee ps's going cheap cose ppl won't be able to use them for much.So dont waste money get a cheap pc instead and dont be disapointed 3 months down the line.

No… your thinking of the OLPC project with those funky green ones that were for children in developing nations. Their completely different.

And the carphone warehouse "giveaway" is if you sign up for an AOL broadband connection for £15 a month for 2gb of usage. Sign up for 2 years…. that's the same as sky give you for free, but for 2 years. So that's £460 for a laptop which dell retail in their sales for £250-300. Dont do it….

The Eee PC was touted as being a $199 laptop, which translates to about 100 UK quids. If the 4GB version was going for that, or a little more, I'd have bought one already. The UK prices are nudging into cheap Dell territory thus defeating the object.

Still it could be worse, the Via Nanobook's UK prices are expected to be around £350..

Lol, dont understand this,PC Format has a ACER laptop for £266 quid.1.6 ghz 1 GB ram 60 gig hard drive and DVD-RW ..lol £266 ..must be seeing things.That inc VAT .www.yoyotech.co.uk .So for an extra £40 quid sorted…Eee pc no way …Pay more that that for external drive.

Andy you appear to be spouting off a fair bit have you tried one of these yet? Perhaps people are looking for lightweight portability rather than high end specs.

Sure I am presently in the position to buy a new laptop at the moment and have anything up to £700 to spend. What makes these machines so exciting other than being lightweight is their size and endless possibilities with regard to the OS.

I need a small laptop for some sysadmin stuff – the eee is awesome for this and super cheap – for an ultra portable. The cheapo laptops around thend to be a little overweight for my tastes
