10 percent of European PC market is netbooks

Category: News | October 20th, 2008

It appears that the laptop arena is helping to keep vendor’s heads from sinking under the water, and along with small cheap computers have helped shipments of personal computers grow a nice 27% during Q3.

The figures show that notebook shipments are up 52% when comparing figures for Q3 08 with the previous same period in 07. What is evident however is that European netbook shipments when from nothing in Q3 07 up to a staggering two million in Q3 of 08.

Two million netbooks represent 10% of the 27.9 million computers shipped into Europe during Q3 of this year, and forecasts predict that small cheap computers will shoot skywards 100% to four million during this current quarter.
