Are Netbooks, UMPCs, And Mini-Notebooks the Future?
Category: News | October 29th, 2008

With the economy the way it is it helps that relatively inexpensive netbooks and notebooks remain a feasible purchase for students and parents and for the mobile professional. As a rapidly evolving tech they sport several names with ultra-portable PC, s and internet devices being the smallest.
These are unlikely to have a standard keyboard and rely on a virtual keyboard on their touch-screen. The difference between UMPC’s and the MIDs is probably that UMPC’s use a Windows OS while MIDs opt for Linux.
Netbooks and mini notebooks look similar to the more regular notebook PC both in feature set and size with a maxed out display of 10 inches and a price tag of generally around $500.00. Gartner predict 5.2 million mini notebooks will be sold in 08 with 8 million in 09 and up to 50 million by 2012. So it does look as if the netbook, UMPC, and mini notes are the future of computing.
