Asustek to lower pricing on Eee PCs in 2009

The word is Asustek is planning to drop the price tag of their Eee PCs next year. Jerry Shen, president of Asustek has said that by 2009, Asus will offer entry level Eee Pc’s with a start off price at $200.
Asustek shipped 1.7 million of their Eee PCs during the quarter and is hoping to ship a further 1.8 million in the next, which is a vast improvement when you consider when the Eee PC was in its first year first quarter it shipped just 350,000.
Jerry Shen has also intimated that over a period of time, the smaller seven inch and eight inch Eee PCS will be phased out in favour of the ten inch netbooks.
