Dell has officially launched their Inspiron Mini 12 laptop for the United States after its initial run in Japan. The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is a cross over between an ultra-portable and a netbook and holds a starting price of $549.00.

The Inspiron Mini 12 comes with a 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM along with a 40GB hard drive and runs on Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic operating system.

There is also a faster version with 1.6GHz Atom chip, 6-cell battery and 60GB hard drive for $654, or if you go top of the range you get an 80GB hard drive and extended 2 year warranty for $758. All versions of the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 should ship early December and be available in black or white.
