Qualcomm to deliver $200 laptops in India in 09

US-based CDMA chip maker Qualcomm, foreseeing the highly strong potential for portable computing laptops capable of handling internet services, post 3G services launch in India, has stated they will be introducing into the India market by mid 09 laptops that are priced in th region of Rs 10,000, that’s about $200.00.
Qualcomm says the internet platform known as Kayak will be the laptops USP as Kayak can compute in low power environments.
So, looks like Qualcomm will be shifting several low priced laptops in the Indian market next year then. Let’s hope all goes well and that the price doesn’t start to rise too sharply if the economic downturn continues over into 09
