Mini Laptop sales gain large increase in 08

PC makers were taken by surprise in 08 by the significant increase in mini laptop sales. The reason for the boost in sales seems to be the One Laptop per Child program which is a non profit venture.
Taking inspiration from OLPC, Asus came out with the ultra lightweight Eee PC and thus history took over and virtually every laptop manufacturer is producing their own mini laptops now.
Growth rates of the mini laptop are unbelievable according to research from IDC, and Intel say the mini laptop actually serve as second or even third computer in the west. But only time will really tell if the mini laptop will continue to be this impressive in sales and establish a strong presence within the market.
