New Apple Mac mini coming in black

Category: Apple, Laptop Brands, News | January 3rd, 2009

Word has it that a new Apple Mac mini is set to be announced during Macworld Expo 09. Details are a bit sketchy and no word on any dimensions on whether the new Mac mini is a different size to the existing Mac mini, but some specs have emerged.

Apparently the internal optical drive on the new Mac mini will change to a SATA optical drive which can be swapped out for another SATA hard drive. This means small business servers and departmental users having a second SATA drive will add to its server role and RAID 1 mirroring becomes simple.

Another thing is the Mac mini won’t have a white plastic top but will go black plastic and aluminium, and it will lose its smooth sides and incorporate a “lip” much like the Time Capsule. Furthermore the optical disc slot will be hidden beneath the lip and thus won’t be obvious.
