India is about to get a dirt cheap laptop as India gets ready for the first unveiling of the $10 laptop on the 3rd of February. Actually why they call it the $10 laptop I don’t know because it’s actually $20, but put up against most laptops it is certainly dirt cheap.

The $10 laptop is also way better than the One Laptop Per Child XO deal that was $200 which Negroponte wanted to charge the Indian government some two years ago.

The rumour is this $10 laptop will sport WiFi, Ethernet, 2GB memory, expandable memory and consume 2 watts of power. So it does look as if India will gain the cheapest laptop to be had if this program can keep on schedule of course.
