Sony VAIO P to gain Qualcomm Gobi technology
Category: Laptop Brands,Sony Vaio | February 17th, 2009
Sony has announced in conjunction with Qualcomm that Sony will use Qualcomm’s Gobi mobile internet tech in their Sony VAIO P laptops. The VAIO Z, VAIO TT and the VAIO P laptops will soon be embedded with Gobi tech which delivers both EVDO REV.A and HSDPA on a single module.
Senior vice president of Sony VAIO product marketing, Mike Abary says that by embedding Qualcomm’s Gobi tech in Sony’s laptops they can deliver the customer an attractive combination of ease, use and performance.
The US version of the Sony VAIO P only supports Verizon Wireless mobile broadband network, so it looks like early adopters will miss out. As yet no word on when Sony will begin shipping these new Gobi equipped machines or if they’ll even see US shores.
