Videos: Apple MacBook Air hinge faults should Apple fix for free?
Category: Apple,Laptop Brands | March 1st, 2009
A warning to be very careful with your Apple MackBook Air, treat it with special care because if the hinges crack on your Apple laptop don’t expect Apple to fix them free of charge as apparently its not covered by the warranty.
There have been reports of cracked hinges on MacBooks before, and one would assume Apple would confess there is a problem and compensate for the need to repair, but unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Apparently someone who had a broken hinge on their MacBook Air reported it to Apple and Apple replied it will cost $800 to repair even though the laptop is still under warranty. This seems kind of strange to me as surely if the hinges crack it’s down to manufacture quality and thus should be covered by any warranty?
Am I wrong? What are your views, should Apple repair faulty hinges free of charge? Either way we have a couple of videos below showing cracked hinges on the Apple Macbook Air.
