Acer testing Android netbook in the Acer Labs
Category: Acer,Laptop Brands | April 10th, 2009
Apparently we may be seeing some android platform laptops coming out of Acer sometime in the future as Gianfranco Lanci, Acer CEO along with product man Jim Wong has confirmed Acer is “playing around” with Android in their labs, but believe an Android based netbook isn’t ready for the computing arena just yet.
Apparently, Wong did confirm that they have a prototype android on a netbook, and apparently it has a good chance of making it into the hands of the public at some stage but doesn’t foresee a desktop version at the moment.
Acer feels that the greatest obstacle with android is making sure customers gain a full fledged browser experience, and they will share more insight as and when they believe it is consumer ready.
