One Laptop Pre Child has already promised the next generation XO 2 but while we are waiting for the dual screen sequel to the OX, OLPC has begin sprucing up the internals of the current design by adding a VIA C7-M processor which can be clocked between 400MHz and 1GHz.

This generation 1.5 model is to also sport a new VX855 chipset which can handle HD video, 3D graphics, general management duties but with less power consumption and a smaller footprint.

Apparently developers will get the main board in May and tester prototypes being pushed out in August with a possible wide availability sometime after August.
