Dell Servers Utilise VIA Nano Laptop Chips
Category: Dell | May 19th, 2009
The word is that Dell’s new ultra-light server is to use low powered processors that have been designed for low priced laptops, and therefore the Dell XS11-VX8 servers will utilise Nana netbook processors supplied by VIA Technologies.
The move towards the use of Nano chips is a tread towards low powered chips in servers to help reduce energy and cooling prices in data centres.
Dell’s servers will command a price tag of about $400 and will come bundled in one chassis containing 12 server boards with Nano chips and each of these boards will contain VIA NANO U2250 1.3HGz processors
