HP Folio 13 good value for money laptop

Category: HP,Laptop Brands | February 8th, 2012

Following our earlier reports today on the Toshiba Satellite U840 Ultrabook, now available in Australia, we have another laptop to tempt you with, this time it’s the HP Folio 13 Ultrabook. This looks to be a substantial laptop with very decent specs and has been priced extremely competitively to offer good value for money.

As its title suggests the HP Folio 13 has a 13.3-inch gloss display with 1366×768 resolution and uses Intel’s 2nd Gen Core i5-2467M 1.6GHz processor. At 1.5 kg in weight it’s lighter than the Toshiba U840 and is also slimmer at 18mm, making it nicely portable and overall we reckon this could be an excellent choice, especially considering its range of ports. There’s a USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and SD card reader, as well as an audio jack.

While its appearance may not exactly have the wow factor, the HP Folio 13 has a rubberized-feel plastic backing, useful for holding the laptop in place, metal screen backing and a nicely solid keyboard. Specs and features include Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology to bump the processor up to 2.3GHz when needed and Intel HD Graphics 3000, suitable for gaming on the lowest settings according to this article. The Folio 13 also has 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD for quick start-up and resume times and promises around 9 hours of battery life.

Full dimensions are 31.8cm x 22cm x 1.8cm and it runs on the Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The Folio 13-1008TU is available now for AU $1,247 from Officeworks here and looks to be a laptop with a lot of potential. You can see a look at the Folio 13 on video below this story if you want to find out more before you order. We’d like to hear from you if you purchase the Folio 13, with your thoughts and comments on this ultrabook so why not let us know.
