Now I am definitely one for great looking laptops especially great looking laptops with top performance. Well Acer reveals their latest second generation Gemstone Blue laptop.

The brand new launch of a brand new laptop really does put a smile on my face; the new unveiling of the Gemstone Blue is a great move for Acer. These laptops come in 16 and 18.4-inch 16:9 1080p screen versions plus features include 1.5GHz Penryn processors, Blu-ray drives, 512MB NVIDIA 9650m GS graphics and Acer’s new CineReal system.

The graphics chip is at the center of Acer’s new CineReal system which basically means it offloads BD playback to the GPU and provides Dolby headphone output (and real 5.1 sound on the bigger model).

There is one little downside and that is these laptops only have around 2.5 hours on the 16-inch version and only 3 hours on the 18.4-inch version.

The most impressive thing of all and of course what we are all about is the price, for $900 to $1,700 you know you are getting a bargain. We love you ACER. These second generation Blu-ray Gemstone Blue laptops should start shipping in a month or so. More images below -
