Thanks

I read that the 9212 is made for DSGi (Advent) by ECS, model number S20 II. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ Maybe that will help you locate a battery …?

Thanks, have found one eventually online and got it now, takes ages though as it seems batteries are only easily obtainable for Advent 7xxx mostly.
Apparently partmaster don’t sell them, but will send you the wrong one (that’s a comment I read somewhere anyway)
Thanks though, happy with the one I have now

I’m really pleased with my 9212 apart from two minor problems. When I plug in earphones the speakers don’t cut out so other people can hear what I’m listening to. I think this must be a hardware problem so will probably have to return it for repair. Also, the button that is supposed to reduce fan noise has no effect whatsoever. The fan is always on and the noise can get a bit annoying when recording with a mic.
I’ve removed Vista and installed XP. Before doing so I printed out an image of everything listed under Device Manager and that made drivers relatively easy to track down.

Update - the earphones/speakers problem has been solved by updating the Realtek driver.

I want to Convert my Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium to Windows XP Profession

Is that a question about how to do so? You will need a product key for XP - the Vista key won’t work. The way I did it was to format the hard drive before installing XP, taking careful note of all installed devices before doing so.
After XP install I found problems with one driver. I installed Driver Detective from http://www.drivershq.com - it didn’t cost much and it not only solved the audio problem but also found updates for other drivers that Windows Update hadn’t spotted.

Greylin,
Thinking of getting a 9212. How long does the battery last ?

That’s a bit like asking how long a piece of string is. It depends what you ask the computer to do. If I were just browsing the web and using email I would probably get 3 or 4 hours out of it but since I usually connect the mains lead I can’t give you an exact figure.
