I had the problem where i went to use the camera on msn and skype but it was coming up black. Sound and mic would still work. I tried what Louise said with pressing fn + F10 once.
Now the camera is back up and working properly…… so thankyou Louise

it’s starting to bug me, i disabled my camera, and now i can’t able it again, my YawCam can’t find it, it just finds my video thing, and when i try to take a picture, it still says no webcam selected! and with the Fn+F10 thing, when and where do you press that? At what stage of the thing? thanks.

I have read many posted which appear to be having this problem with Built-in webcams on laptops
Make sure first you have done all the Windows updates ie. Service Pack1, Security updates etc
if have just bought your Laptop
Here what to do if you are one of the many who are having this problem
Go to
Control Panel >> System Maintenance >> Device Manager
Go to Imaging Devices and right-click “USB 2.0 Camera” and
choose “Update Driver Software”
First clicked on “Search automatically for updated driver software”
if there is no updates go to “Browse my Computer for Driver Software” and then to
“Let Me Pick from a List”. Updated the USB Video Device Then tried updating one of the ” USB 2.0 Camera” and rebooted (restart your PC) that should do the trick. Then just opened up the webcam using Skype or MSN Massager and the image was there.
I am sure this will work on most Laptops with a Built -in webcam

i have the same problems with my webcam. usually if its not working i close the laptop and wait for it to go on standby, then i open it up again and press the power button and log bk in, and it usually makes the cam work again but it can take up to like 6 tries to get it to work again, i hope this helps

I have this problem regularly. To solve the problem you need to restart or shut down your laptop. The webcam works after that.
