Asus brand new U1E ultra-portable laptop: downsized 11.1 inch display
Category: Asus, Laptop Brands, News | October 1st, 2007

Asus have just introduced their brand new laptop and with the company showing this off is it for better or for worse? Well the new Asus U1E ultra-portable laptop which is making its first appearance is smaller than the company’s other laptop which is the 12.1-inch U6S laptop which weighs 3.3 pounds, the new U1E ultra portable laptop has been downsized to an 11.1 inch WXGA display weighing in at only 2.2 pounds (carrying weight).
The Asus U1E laptop will feature an Intel Core Duo ULV7500 processor with up to 2GB of RAM, built in Bluetooth and WiFi plus a 100GB hard drive, oh yeah what about an external DVD burner as well just for you Asus fans.
There will be a 9 cell battery for that extra laptop usage time which promises to give you around 6 hours before charging, the Asus U1E ultra-portable laptop should be available next month for around $2,844 (€1,999) in Italy.

Hi Mark, Just thought you should know that this is not a new product, rather a refresh of the existing U1F that has been out for quite a few months now, I’ve had mine for at least 4!
The product updates (as far as I can see) are:
- additional 20gb hard drive space
- processor upgrade from ulv 2400 to ulv 7400
- replacing extra battery from 6-cell to 9-cell
- replacing on-board ram from 512 to 1gb (other stick is user-replaceable)
makes me fairly jealous to see a laptop in my weight with a better spec, there’s the new sony’s but they simply aren’t as nice and have a screen more susceptible to damage
