Asus Eee PC specs are great but $199 is better, so where is it?

It was revealed last week that the cool Asus Eee PC pricing and specs were pretty good, but not so much about the specs is intriguing but indeed the price stands out here more than anything. The stunning 7 inch LED backlit LCD baby laptop which has 2 yes two 8GB of flash storage and up to 1GB memory plus webcam and WiFi will only be at a very low VERY Low $199 retail price.
When we first heard about the Asus Eee PC we all expected it to be around US$358 in Taiwan and an expected $300 when launching in the states, well this was the price revealed for the entry level model.
Sorry to disappoint you all but the anticipated price is NOT $199 but is indeed a lot higher (the higher prices shown above), this is because there is a high cost for the 7 inch display panels.
Asus did intend to source the panels for around $15 each but they found themselves paying Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) and AU Optronics (AUO) up to twice as much for the hardware.
Pretty disappointed myself that we will not get our hands on the Asus Eee PC for $199.
