The netbook is currently still hanging round for their first dual core Atom CPUs while owners of the full fledged laptop are about to start enjoying the affordable quad cores as Intel has stated they have begun shipping the Q9000 2GHz quad core CPU.

The Q9000 2GHz quad core CPU is expected to become available for significantly less than the current QX9300 and QX9100, however paying less means shedding some cache to 6MB rather than 12MB.

The thing it the savings are huge with the Q9000 shipping in bulk at just $348 each whereas the QX9300 and QX9100 ship for $1038 and $851 each. Acer is one manufacturer who has already stepped up to bundling the Q9000 in their Aspire 8930G-7665.
