Is Sony entering into the netbook game? Apparently not says Sony.

Category: Laptop Brands, Sony Vaio | July 23rd, 2008

There were a while back several net whispers that Sony was planning to introduce to the computing world a netbook of Sony’s own designs, however, Stan Glasgow, Sony Exec happened to slap a downer on those whispers the other day by coming straight out and saying that Sony was “not looking at competing with Asus.” Well to add to this confusion, apparently a report from China’s Economic Daily news claims that Foxconn is to be supplying some components for, yep the denied Sony netbook!

Furthermore, within the same report it states that Fujitsu are also planning to jump aboard the low cost netbook ship sometime later this year, but will not state and manufacturing partnerships at present. Obviously these low cost laptops could easily be just low cost laptops and not netbooks at all, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
