Microsoft will support Windows XP until 2014: security patches & critical updates
Category: News | June 25th, 2008

Microsoft has promised to support Windows XP until 2014, surely many consumers are not wanting this product anymore seeing as it is moving down the availability ladder with PC manufacturers like netbooks etc.
What I just said above is obviously not the case seeing as Microsoft is going to stand by Windows XP, Hey Bill Gates we know you are not there anymore so what would you say on this matter. Microsoft has pledged that they will support the operating system through to 2014, Bill Veghte; Microsoft’s senior VP said that the support will indeed include critical updates and security patches. Bill Veghte also said that customers who still need Windows XP will be able to get it, which is kind of strange considering the plans to stop selling a retail product and of course stop licensing it directly to PC manufacturers after June 30th. So this means in a crunch that Microsoft will have supported Windows XP for 13 years since its release. Do we really need Windows XP?
