OLED the future of computing with Optimus Maximus keyboards?

Optimus Maximus OLED keyboard

Optimus Maximus keyboard, will major computer manufacturers actually follow the example? One problem is the OLED tech used in the keyboard is a very expensive alternative to say a standard keyboard. However they are probably quite a few people out there with wads of cash in their pocket who would be will to fork over $1000 to grab hold of a keyboard like the Optimus Maximus.

The advantage with the Optimus Maximus keyboard is every key image is fully customised separately for any of the applications. The need to display secondary symbols such as !ӣ$% on the keys is no longer necessary as they appear automatically when the shift key is depressed. Keys that are never used can be removed, and language layout can be switched easily.

There are loads of attractive but not too realistic technologies in the near future and OLED is definitely one to key your eye on. The differences between OLED and regular LCD displays are totally amazing, for instance did you know OLED screens can be as thin as a human hair? Did you know they can be transferred to fabric, and even bent?

OLED screens even produce their own light and therefore no backlight is needed, while they can also display a wider range of colours, and image quality doesn’t distort no matter what angle it is viewed from, and the best advantage is OLED screens theoretically are cheaper to produce.

The only real downside of OLED elements is their lifespan is somewhat limited and up to ten times less than an LCD. However, the advancement in technologies is moving so fast that according to some industry experts’ it is only a matter of time. Fully customisable keyboards are just one of the many revolutionary possibilities.
