Advent 5611 Laptop: PC Protection and Space Problems

When turning on my laptop a pc protection programme loads and then say’s there is not enough space on the laptop to sort out this problem. I have a recovery disk that I made when I first received the laptop so I was wondering if I was to use it would it start my laptop correctly again, or is there a way of resetting my laptop to start from fresh?
