Samsung r519 webcam not working with windows messenger

My webcam does not work with windows messenger, it does not go into the audio and video settings on messenger, and when i try to turn it on it says :We couldn’t start your camera device. Please check that your camera is not currently in use by another program, and then try again. Please help me out
