Qualcomm convince Dell on Gobi dual-3G chipset

Category: Dell, Laptop Brands, News | April 4th, 2008

Dell

It appears that Qualcomm has managed to get Dell onside by convincing them of the merits of Qualcomm’s Gobi dual-3G chipset, so will probably be finding its way inside every Dell Precision, Latitude, and any other Dell related laptop.

So if you are one of those who don’t happen to keep up to speed with the laptop world, this most welcomed addition lets the user connect via both HSPA and EV-DO networks all over the globe without the need to carry two mobile network cards, while flipping form one to the other is as simple as hitting a switch.

As yet, no word on which particular models will benefit from this upgrade, or how much more expensive the unit will cost the consumer or even when it may be available, all Dell would commit to was it will be later this year.
